Mission Statement

The Tinley Park Arts Council is a not-for-profit corporation that has for its purpose to serve exclusively for charitable, educational, artistic, and cultural purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code (or corresponding section of any future United States Internal Revenue Law). It shall provide support for arts and cultural activities and will have the goal:

  • To stimulate, encourage, and aid a greater governmental and public awareness and appreciation of the arts in Tinley Park and to increase and broaden the opportunities to its citizens to enjoy and participate in cultural activities.

  • To seek and encourage financial support, including grants, loans and guarantees to Tinley Park artists, arts institutions and community organizations sponsoring arts activities, subject to Village approval.

  • To advise the Village on criteria for the annual disbursement of funding for arts and culture.

  • To promote a high level of creativity and excellence in the cultural life of Tinley Park and to encourage the preservation and growth of Tinley’s art resources, and foster the development of a receptive climate for the arts.

  • To promote the development of Tinley Park artists, institutions and community organizations sponsoring arts activities.

  • To promote diversity in the artistic life of the community, including the professional and the non-professional, the traditional and the innovative, the established and the aspiring. These will include, but not be limited to, musical, theatre, dance, performing, design and architecture, sculpture, visual, film, and literary arts.

  • To advise on the provision of facilities for the creation and presentation of arts and culture in Tinley Park.
